"Like a recurring nightmare, my mind is plagued with rebounding thoughts and observations of the world around me. I hear the optimists and the pessimists of the world alike, each of their voices resounding like echoes. Although their words are inescapable, I harness their tension to express my displacement in the world. With an influence from pop art and post-modernism, I have developed a style deemed “Post-Apocalyptic Pop” art or PAP art. This is created by employing a variety of print making techniques on unique materials such as old newspapers, paint cards, or fabric. I utilize the semiotics of these materials to evoke a feeling that lays beneath the surface of my designs. This body of work is a part of a larger series called In The Quiet. In The Quiet explores the direct enemy of the noise by highlighting the subtleties of the natural world. I am a firm believer that when your elevation changes, so does your mindset. Every time I escape to the mountains, I am not escaping reality, but rather embracing what is real. Like seeing pictures of mountains, there is no justice in showing the scene, so I seek to create a feeling with my work through the monochromatic imagery with rich persian blues and coffee enhanced irons."
